There are a range of ‘specialist’ roles in the financial services industry, applied to a variety of job titles – from Pension Transfer Specialist to Investment Specialist. The term lends itself to particularly niche requirements, with a dedicated person or team to concentrate on it.
It’s quite common for people to veer into a specialist role from other routes. A paraplanner may choose to become an investments specialist, or a financial adviser may become a pension transfer specialist. Sometimes, it’s because the person has developed a particular skillset that fills a need – other times people chase the tasks they enjoy the most!
Specialist titles and duties depend on the firm. For example, an investment specialist role at an asset management firm will be very different to an investment specialist at an advice firm. The variety of roles means there’s something for everyone in the financial services industry.
Depending on your specialism, qualifications will vary. But you’ll need a good foundation in everything finance including the advice journey and business services. Below, we’ve pulled together some key e-learning modules to help you get started. Need help? Get in touch!
